    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    forever and always; exist
    #1
He can look back on prior years without a grim set to his face. Not that he does so much, just that he can’t imagine how he made it this far before she came into his life and lit it up brighter than all the stars in the sky. She was the light of his life, burning longer and hotter than the sun above and he never knew he could be this happy. It never seemed possible after the first and only heartbreak of his life, when he swore off love for good. Or so he thought until she flew into his life and showed him what it was like to fly.

Instead of looking back, he looks forward. Forward to the years of beautiful sons and daughters they’ve made together and all the time spent making those children. Just thinking about it brings a roguish smile to his gruff face as he lifts his head from the rich golden fare of the Pampas that he was feasting on. The stallion knew she’d be nearby, plump and gorgeous as ever, looking as ripe as an apple on a branch. It might have even put a twinkle in his black eyes, just thinking about the gloss of motherhood and how good it looked on her.

“Beloved,” he croons against her apricot skin the moment he finds her nestled in the tall grass. His lips smooth back the hair from the beautiful curves of her face, moving away only to tuck wayward feathers back into the fold of her amazing wings. He remembers when she taught him to soar alongside her, challenging him to reach heights he’d never dreamt of reaching. Not until she came along and set his entire world back to rights.

“Still as beautiful as the day I first saw you.” the sentiment is heartfelt, despite the natural gravel of his voice and the gentle champing of his teeth down the ridge of her spine. He feels it is the least he can do, grooming the dust and flower-pollen from her apricot fur. Deep down, he knows he’d do anything for her and he hopes she knows that too. No sacrifice could be too much, as long as it meant her every happiness.

@[exist] started off okay then turned poopy. <3
