    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    remember you could weep fire
It was a very crisp early morning, there were no clouds in the sky. A beautiful and clear blue, with lots of sun. It's warm rays chase away the shadows at the mouth of the dragon's den, waking the golden woman. Lashes flutter like a butterfly's wings, allowing autumn eyes to adjust to the light of morning.

Quietly she raises to her feet, for she did not want to awaken the rest of her slumbering kin. Everyone knows it is normally not a good idea to wake a sleeping dragon. She stands at the entrance of the cave, taking in the winter Loess scenery. Snow capped rock and frosty shrubbery, an icy coastline. Taking it all in with a deep breath of salty cool ocean air. She pauses before she leaves, turning her lovely head once more to gaze lovingly at her family before setting out for her daily morning walk.

The walk to the forest is not a long one, and she enjoys the quiet of it this early. Only the sounds of the distant river and the songs of chickadees, jays, and cardinals fill the wood. Valera's mind is calm, though there has been one thought that still intrigues her on the daily. She can see her so clearly in her mind. Her slick, gleaming gold and teal body. The alluring look in her eye, her haunting melody. Tasi. The kelpie woman she had met by the river. She couldn't shake their meeting, their pleasant walk together.

She could not describe the feeling in her chest when the vision of the siren crosses her mind. It was almost like fire. She longed to see the woman again, but she was not sure how she would proceed if she saw her again. What were these feelings? Like a foalhood crush, only it was a bit more intense. Yet, she barely knew the woman. As bold as she is, she knew if she saw her again, she probably would be too forward, scare her away. Or maybe her affections would be rejected by the floral maned sea goddess.

She whispers into the crisp air, her words could almost be spelled out in visible steamy coils..

"I need to see you again…

You've got a light in your eyes, or is it just the dark in disguise?

The golden coloured mare is still, her body fighting the river's current as she remains silent, her eyes closed and mind vibrant as she reflects. She had spent a while thinking about what she had done, the murder she had attempted to commit, the friendship she had lost. Just when she thought she was ready to return, a simple instinct had driven her back into the water, to hide once again.

Tasi breaches from the surface of the streaming river, grasping the air with her lungs as her legs grip to the river bed. She lets out a deep swell of air as she emerges from the river, her long and clean tail now bloodied by the ground she walks on.
The mare looks into the sky, another heavy breath escaping her lungs as she watches the greenery above her sway against the piercing blue sky, she closes her eyes again, a soreness in her throat as her head sways back down toward the earth, a type of guilt she could not describe throbbing in her eyes.

Though the mare's attention snaps back when she hears a familiar voice, awake again as she finds herself moving toward who could only be Valera, somehow sure that it was her she was speaking to.
"Valera" she whispers as she walks, her words lost on the familiar breeze that whisks through the forest, leading Tasi straight to her.

She pauses once the mare comes into view, standing behind a tree, only half of her body visible. Though to her surprise, she does not feel as nervous as she usually does when meeting another, this time she felt her body pulling her toward Valera, longing to speak with her again.

Her face suddenly feels warm as she approaches from behind, her legs softly trailing along the forest floor "Valera" she says faintly as she halts.
She watches as the mare turns around, observing her colours and admiring her charming expression.

    "You called?"

    remember you could weep fire
Though this past winter had been quite a cold one, it was beginning to break its streak. Spring is on it's way, and soon. Birds that had long since been gone for the season were beginning to reappear within the forest treetops singing their beautiful songs for all to hear. Animals began to stir from within their cozy dens. Everything was starting to reveal themselves, including the first bloom of spring. Valera's muzzle lightly flicked the snow away from its soft purple petals revealing it in its full beauty. Her soft words that had coiled in a white mist into the cool winter air were soon answered by the melodic voice of her flame call her name. Tasi…, the golden woman feels a warmth spark within her as she turns to meet the kelpie's eyes with a sweet smile painted on her pink lips. M'lady, you must be magic…, her eyes gleaming playfully as she answers the lovely teal and golden mare. Though as she goes to reach for her, she hesitates to allow herself to lovingly graze the kelpie woman's cheek. Unsure if she would reciprocate or accept her touch.

She was unsure of herself, never once having feelings like this for anyone. She knew of familial love, for her parents and siblings loved her to the ends of the earth, and she them. But this was different. And so sudden. It was not uncommon for those to experience love at first sight, but she was afraid that the beauty before her would not feel the same way. She dipped her head to pluck the purple bloom between them, and tenderly tucked it behind Tasi's ear as she whispered softly, "I wish to win your favor M'lady, Beauty of the Water., she takes a step back and draws in a deep shaky breath.

She hums a melody, the melody she had heard the kelpie singing when they first met that day by the river bank. A song that floated around Valera's head every moment of every day, she wondered if this was kelpie magic, but she didn't care. She would show her the love she felt, as she could not put it in words. Raising her wings as high as she could, she splayed her wing tips towards the sky, her song was not as beautiful as Tasi's but it was filled with passion. A flame built up from her feet as she began to sway and move to the melody, dipping and fluttering her wings like a dancer with flowing fans to kick up the flames, manipulating the flickering embers into hearts. A flash of gold and ivory danced around her, taking small opportunities to playfully brush up against her as she moved gracefully around the river maiden. She began to spin and let her wings graze the flame before she whirled around and threw her wings to the sky, sending a spiral of embers and warm flames into the air around them, careful not to harm any of of forest trees, yet melting the snow around them to reveal the new spring grass and small beautiful blooms beneath. A courtship dance to remember.

She begins to slow her ritual, and turns to face Tasi, with passion in her eyes. Slowly she strode toward her, her eyes narrowed in a sultry manner as she fluttered her lashes over seemingly glowing fiery eyes, her voice was lower than usual, but she felt her heart singing as she spoke.

    " Do you...feel the same..?

let me love the lonely part of you

The scene surrounding the pair becomes ever so quiet, to Tasi; the birds have stopped chirping and the distant roar of the river rapids has faded entirely, now she only hears the soft breaths that the two horses take along with the soft crunch of the earth below them.
Her chest felt sore and tousled with each fleeting moment the two spent together, guilt had started slowly eating her from within. She felt that most of her encounters felt almost fabricated, shaped and carved into short-lasting lies through her Kelpie Nature. Yet still, Tasi hadn't enacted on her predatory nature, even after singing her melody and luring Valera closer, she believed that the possibility of what the two horses shared was in fact very real.

"Valera..." Her voice is motionless, her body staying very still as the gold women's breath grazes her cheek. Goosebumps quickly torpedo up the mare's spine as she is drawn closer, as if entranced.
Tasi lowers her head gently and momentarily closes her eyes as the flower is placed behind her ear, neatly accompanying the many other flowers that decorate her mane and tail.
She can feel her own face start to rise in temperature and her heartbeat now becoming faster as soon as Valera begins to speak again, her eyes fluttering quietly, watching the beautiful golden maiden as she begins to dance, creating a display of grace, power and fire.

Tasi's face immediately glows with delight, a smile crossing both edges of her muzzle as she begins to sway to Valera's perfect melody, almost joining in herself.
Despite the heat and fire all around them, Tasi's body grows cold with goosebumps every time the mare sweeps her golden frame across her own, her heart increasing in speed with each moment of closeness, to the point that she had almost forgotten to breathe.

Tasi had never seen such a display before, never had she experienced the feeling of being wanted by someone else, nor did she know what it was like to be loved, but now she had every chance possible to change that.
Her eyes quickly meet with Valera, her throat has become sore and her lungs have suddenly forgotten how to produce air.
"That was beautiful..." Her expression beams with delight, her frame still slightly swaying to the tune Valera had sung moments before.

"I do. I feel the same..." She looks away for a passing moment, still feeling that same guilt she had felt before. Though the feeling quickly passes and her head suddenly extends forward, her lips curling softly in order to plant a frail kiss on the golden mare's nose.

Her heart flutters once more as she takes a step back, hoping that she hadn't been too hasty, it all seemed to be happening very fast, yet she wasn't opposed to it at all.
