Cold winter’s breath tousled the fluff of her black mane as she followed diligently behind her mother. Drear had no idea where they were going - mama hadn’t given her any clues, only that it was a ‘surprise’. So she’d eagerly followed (because what else was she going to do?), anxious to see just where they were heading as they paraded over the sparkling snow. The trees that stood in their path looked gigantic, but the snow caps made them look less scary and dark - pretty even.
Everything was just so BIG.
A gray squirrel yelled at something nearby, and he must’ve been upset enough to panic and limb jump, causing the snow to topple off of the perch he had fled from and land with a giant dull thud right next to the black and white filly. Startled, she squealed and tripped over her gangly limbs, seeking safety under Breckin’s warm belly and inadvertently causing her mother to trip and stumble in the process. The equally startled leopard mare is able to catch herself in time before the situation ended badly, coming to a stop on the edge of the Playground. Lowering her head to look between her forelegs to look at the wide-eyed trembling filly, the agitated spark in her dark eyes lessens, and she instead coaxes the girl out with a reassuring smile.
Drear moved away from her mother hesitantly, stopping atop the gently sloping hill that led into the heart of where other children gathered. With a firm bump to her rump, her mother encouraged her forward, and the young girl abided, taking a couple of small steps further. But a misplaced step sent her rear underneath her, effectively dropping her into a sitting position with eyes clenched tight as the filly slid the rest of the way down the hill like a makeshift sled, just to land in front of another foal who had just been minding their own business.
First, she opened one eye to bashfully peer at the face looking back at her, then cautiously opened the other. “Um, hi,” she started shyly, still in an awkward sitting position, “You, uh, you have a nice...face?”
ooc: breckin's not really here, she just gave drear a little boop and scoot and dropped her off.
