    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    CASIMIRA

dragon-shifting daughter of ashhal and ryatah

She is not sure what brings her here, other than it is home.

She remembers being born here, in the fragrant tropical undergrowth alongside her twin brother. She remembers their adventures and mishaps, she remembers sneaking off to practice her dragon shifting, before she had learned that it turned her into a monster, in every shape of the word.

She remembers dying here the most.

There is an orange glow that radiates from the top of the volcano in the distance, and it makes her think of fires roaring uncontrolled and shadows engulfing every ounce of light. In her mind there is an echo of cries ringing across the land, she remembers Leliana fighting to hold her shield and how the force from Loess was relentless. She remembers the other dragon, too, and the way he had slammed her into the ground alongside the golden boy with the halo, and she remembers hardly catching a glimpse of the star-dappled mare before their bodies collided.

She does not remember exploding; not really. But that never stopped the nightmares that haunted her sleep after she was reborn from a single dragon scale amid the ashes that the war had left in its wake.

The stark white mare hovers now near the border, and for the first time in years her longing to be home wins out over her fear of what had happened in the past. She steps across the border, and she does not smell smoke like she had thought. The land is not the scarred ruins she had last seen it as, and the sun is bright and yellow in the sky. A sigh trembles past her lips, and she looks out with a faint flicker of hope in her ice-blue eyes. She does not think anyone she knows would still be here, but her foolish heart cannot help but to wonder.

    Isilya

yet it was not that nature had shed o'er the scene
her purest of crystal and brightest of green

The jungle of Tephra was alive and thrumming with life and Isilya felt it surging within her veins. In a short few years this kingdom had grown to mean so much to her. Perhaps she wasn’t the best queen, preferring to spend her days greeting newcomers and cultivating the flowers and trees that made this place a home, but so far she hadn’t heard anyone complain.

Like every day, Isilya devotes some time to wandering the border. Her “patrol” is simply the hope that she’ll stumble across someone to talk to, and more often than not lately she seems to be rewarded with a new face. So many visitors have been coming by lately. She dresses up accordingly today - wearing drooping flowers of warm pastel colours and dragonfly wings crafted from vines with shimmering rainbow membranes.

She wants to give the best first impression she can, after all!

Sure enough, she spots a pale mare standing near the edge of the jungle and without hesitation Isilya trots over with a bright smile. “Hello there!” She calls as she approaches before coming to stand nearby.

“Welcome to Tephra! I’m Isilya, can I help you with anything?”

’twas not her soft magic of streamlet or rill
oh! no, it was something more exquisite still
