    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    FIERTE
    I AM SICK WITH WANTING
AND IT'S EVIL AND IT'S DAUNTING

They were a family of tight-knit monsters and even at his lowest, Fierte will always appreciate them. At least among them, as outcast as he often makes himself feel, he kind a comfort and a home. They do not stare at him with disgust or fear. (And if he's being honest with himself, his heart races with love for his little siblings, for their shrieks and giggles and practiced hunts. He practically lives for them.)

"Hey, Dee," Fierte murmurs, curving his domed head around to offer his sister a pleased expression. His pink eyes catch the shiver of her tail and he matches it with his own. Fie curls his tail from the earth and walks a circle around his sister, coming to a stop at her side and dipping his head just enough to fall level with hers.

"Yeah, want me to barf it up so you can have some?" he whispers teasingly before flopping his tail playfully down on her back. Lifting his head back up and peering at the flickering horns atop Derelict's head, Fierte concedes: "It wasn't good actually. Just a rabbit. I haven't caught anything big recently." He hadn't, and not for skill. Most of the time he is too sensistive to listen to the dying bleats of a deer. This he keeps from his family, though, his softness. They all seem to understand their skin so well.

    Fierte envies it.

"Wanna try to catch something big today?" he offers, and he doesn't know why he does it. Perhaps he can learn something from Derelict, to fall in love with the thrill of death. Perhaps he'll regret it.
