    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

How long it had taken him to reach this place.

Too long, he thinks, pausing to consider why.  Fear, perhaps, or the uncertainty in how his arrival could be received.  More than likely both the former and the latter if he were to be bound to the sake of veracity.

To his left, the river moved sluggishly, frozen in places along it’s beds where the snow touched and found places to settle.  To his right a wall of craggy, cold mountainside glistening from the stray, dull light from the odd eclipse.  And in front him, the scent of water drifted predominantly closer, crisp and bitter.  The lake, the crowning jewel of Hyaline lay just ahead - or so he assumed.

He’d never been before, but stories often fell freely from lips and into ears that they did not know waited hungrily in the dark.

A soft tapping echoes with each step he takes nearer to the lake’s shore and a faint series of clicks vibrate from the back of his throat as curious, violet eyes devour the mountain’s edges.  There’s an eerie sense of foreboding calm, and an unshakeable presence of being studied.

ooc note:  he a velociraptor. open to attacks and some injuries or convo or both or whatever honestly.  it's is own dumb fault.

you can sink to the bottom of the sea,
    just don't go without me

Winter was totally not Sabal’s thing because it was, you know, super cold and stuff. But that was one of the benefits of being a kelpie because cold water was totally doable. However this whole it’s dark all the time business was getting really old. Sabal wasn’t used to seeing her bioluminescence, which usually was only lit up at night or when she was diving really deep on all the time but at the same time, she was kind of glad that she was basically a living nightlight.

However, things in Hyaline had been blessedly quiet since the eclipse. Which was equal parts relieving and concerning. On one hand - monsters hadn’t descended on her home. On the other hand - had monsters eaten everyone? Unknown. But Sabal definitely wasn’t in a hurry to leave the lake. She felt safe here and that was good enough for her.

But movement on the lakeshore caught her attention. Her vivid teal eyes narrowed as she tried to make sense of the shape. Which was clearly not equine and was in possession of both teeth and claws.  Sabal let out a low hiss as it approached, staying in her kelpie form and letting the stranger see that she, too, possessed her own set of sharp teeth.  She did not, however, possess claws but she didn’t think that this thing would be adept at swimming if she dragged him in.

“Okay, Pal, you’re being like so extra right now and I need you to step away from my lake like...immediately,” she said, warningly, her blue eyes flashing.

    sabal.
