    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

    #2

when owls call the breathless moon

    She steps through the copses.
Leaves in hues of orange and red flutter through the air.
    A bite to it.
    Autumn was finally here.

Slender black legs propel the dark mother.
    Her stride is long.
    Steps are sure.
These deep woods had been her domain for many years, where she lie dormant.
    Waiting.
She knew she would return to the world.
If only her bitch daughter hadn't set ruin to her plans.

Velveteen black lips roll back into a disgusted sneer.
    Naga..
The very name made her boil with rage.
    She would have her way.
    All this time.
    Waiting.
    Hoping.
Surely the panther bitch must be dead by now...

Vile thoughts rose to the forefront of her mind.
    Swirling.
    Deepening.
    The crone's attention falters.
    What's this?
Deep black pools shimmer with curiosity.
A small shape picks her way carefully through the landscape, feeling in front of her with a cautious outreached hoof.

    Very interesting.

The dark mother slips out of the shadows near the painted young woman, now noticing the milky bright gaze and the soft whispering that emit from the ghostly mare.
A dark smile spreads across scarred lips.
    Slinking.
    A predator stalking it's prey.
Just a few strides away from the girl.
Silver tongue spins her deep honeyed words.

    "Hello, young one.
Her deep purr of a nicker is surprisingly warm.
Though she was not the most likable - not that she cared to be - she still enjoyed a little socializing.
"A nice evening for a stroll through the forest, isn't it."
The dark crone pauses, craning her neck back to reach an itch behind her shoulder with sharp coiling horns for a moment before returning her gaze.

Ebony eyes narrow as she grins.
I am Shadowmere, delighted to meet you.
There seemed to be something unique about this mysterious child.
The crone could sense it, but she knew not why.
Something about the energy around her.
    Perhaps she would find out...

    SHADOWMERE
