    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

The sun goes down; the stars come out
    #1
The gentle breezes drifted over the pasture, tugging at the grasses and teasing the mare's long, snow-white mane and tail. It carried with it a crisp, fresh promise of the evening that Sakari loved so much, and the little female couldn't help but lift her muzzle, her thin black nostrils flaring, as if drinking in every bit of the fresh breezes. The cool air caressed her soft fur and teased her mane, causing her to shiver softly. Her dark eyes gazed around herself in relaxed silence, as if nothing could ever disturb her. With a content, soft sigh, the little Arabian continued on her way.

She halted after several steps, lifting her head proudly to survey her surroundings...and the skies that stretched endlessly into oblivion high above her head. Sakari stared at the twinkling stars, her dark eyes curious and inquisitive. She had always loved the night. It held so many secrets, and she sighed again, wondering if she would ever learn them. With patience, maybe, but that was something that she simply did not have.

The rustling grasses disturbed her from her musings, and the mare shook herself back to the present. She lifted her head to gaze around, perhaps looking for a spot to lie down. Her long tail flicked against her slender barrel as she moved forward, crossing the gurgling stream that lay in front of her. Dainty black hooves splashed through the chilly water, distorting and swirling the image of the little mare and the stars beyond. The cold water chilled her fetlocks and lower legs, but she couldn't bring herself to care as she continued on her solitary journey.
