    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She had witnessed, a massacre of two. A Murder. Both her parents dead. There bodies left carelessly to rot. No proper gravestone was left in the tiniest bit of sincerity for their little girl. It was too late, if the band of gruesome cruel bachelors found her crying her heart out beside there bodies her fate would end as her parents did. She had to keep going, as far away from that site of murderous activity, tears stained her ebony blotched coat as she entered a small meadow.

Foals gathered beneath trees in sorrow, some woefully speaking of there neglectant parents to female equine. A stallion lingered in the meadow, her chocolate eyes became weary as he made his way towards her. He was probably one of those stallions that killed her parents, it couldn't be. She had trekked so far, that's impossible that they had already located her. He came closer, his smile welcoming, or was it wretched? Fleeing away she screamed with high vocals, "Leave me alone!" Ears pinned as she bolted in the other direction every instinct in her body told her to run faster, flee the area seek for refuge some where else. But something told her to stay.

Turning her head towards the stallion, he seemed to of wandered off. Thank the lord. Her heart thundered, adrenaline surging through every part of her body. She was safe but still tense, terrified for the fact. She had joined the chorus of cries of sorrow of pathetic foals, why was she having a nervous break down now? Tears dripped down her cheeks in a continuous flow, words flew out of her velvet lips, " I'm safe." she hyperventilated through struggled breathes she continued to speak passing in-between words. "S-so very- Sa-afe." Her sides heaved, as more tears flew out her eyes. Her black eyelashes were held in clumps as she fluttered the tears out of the eyes, her cheeks completely soaked with her salty tears.

Lowering herself to the ground, to hopefully stop herself from crying. The speckled girl, couldn't seem to stop, her body trembled with anxiety. As she began to search for someone to help her, calm down grab ahold of her emotions. Worried chocolate eyes wandered about batting constantly as she heaved letting out high pitches cries of woe and anxiety.

There's a song in your lung and a dream in your eye.

Her day, to this point, had been very quiet. Boring, almost. In truth, she had spent much of the morning wandering, taking in the views from the upper reaches of the skies, lounging for only a moment or two beneath the boughs of a massive oak tree, listening to the wind whisper soft melodies through the newly budding branches of spring trees. Doing everything except what she actually should have been doing. Which, in truth, she wasn’t actually avoiding. Sometimes a body just needed a break.

Her silent reverie is broken however when she hears quiet sobbing. Her white tipped ears flick atop her delicately lined head as her golden eyes survey her surroundings, searching for the source of the heart-wrenching sound. Then, there in the distance, she catches sight of a small white filly dotted with black. A small frown touches her lips as she watches the child in concern. A moment later, a stallion approaches her, sending the girl fleeing in fright. Joscelin is spurred into action by that sudden movement, completely helpless to resist the call of such a defenseless creature.

As she flies past, she aims a sharp nip at the unwitting stallion, a small reprimand for the way he had frightened the girl. She continues on however, not pausing to further berate him, her concerned attention focused upon the fleeing child.

She locates her again in short order, dropping to the ground with a gentle thud a short distance away. She drops her head, hoping to appear as non-threatening as possible. Although, given that her red and white skin is scored by a network of dark cracks, it is rather hard for her to look threatening, even with the occasional pulse of light that slides along the myriad fissures. She can hear the girl’s rapid breathing, the stammered words as she tries to convince herself that she is safe.

    ”Hey there.”

Joscelin’s words are soft and unassuming as she takes a slow step nearer in an effort not to frighten her further.

”You are safe. I’ll protect you, I promise.”

She smiles then, a small, gentle smile that she had learned from her own mother. She takes another step nearer, wanting to comfort her yet afraid that any touch might set her to fleeing once again.

    ”I’m Joscelin.”

The little girls attention turns to a crimson and alabaster mare. Multiple precise little cracks are visible up and along her coat, allowing passage for light to travel through the mares body in small little pulses. The mare seemed to be coming towards Celeana but, it was unclear to the little filly until she got closer.

Her body trembles, as more oily tears pour out of her dark chocolate eyes and her heavy breathing heightens to quick and struggled inhales and exhales. Her velvet nostrils flare as her sides heave, the mare comes closer her head lowered in a friendly welcoming tone. Followed by her soft soothing words. Her eyes directed up to the mares but, she stays silent listening to soothing words of the mare. Her breathing begins to slow and, her tears stop flowing out of her eyes. All that remains is the dark stain upon her cheek, a large blotch of inky black soaked with her tears.

The name Joscelin stuck in the appaloosa girls mind. She is hesitant to speak, nervous for the passing moment of silence that follows with her hesitance. Her voice a bit run down from crying,"I'm Celeana." Her body trembled for a moment."You'll protect me?" The last time someone had said that they had wound up dead. It wasn't her fault truly, it was a circumstance that she was too young to understand yet. Her parents had simply done something wrong to end up dead, made a deal with the devil. Now that she thought about it, she blamed herself for their death more than she blamed the stallions that massacred her parents.

Her velvet muzzle, reached out to the mare in need of comfort. Thinking of her past didn't make things any better, it tended to make things worse in her case. Her body leaned forwards, causing the girl to stand up upon her limber black socked legs. She felt awkward, seeking comfort from a stranger but, Joscelin seemed welcoming enough. Striding towards her, the little girl nuzzled Joscelin her small body just the right height to fit under the mares neck. The filly, leaned upon the mare's chest speaking with dry vocals, "Please, protect me."  Her small neck lowered, as her damp cheek pressed against Joscelin.

There's a song in your lung and a dream in your eye.

Her heart aches for the small filly trembling like a leaf in a windstorm. She had been fortunate as a child to never know pain or loss. Her mother and father had had the strength to protect her, to allow her the freedom to live the happy, carefree childhood every youth deserves. She might be slightly calloused on the outside, but her heart still beats hot and red inside her chest. She could no more turn her back upon a grieving child than she could throw herself off a cliff.

Celeana. The girl’s name resonates within her, heavily intertwined with her strong need to comfort and protect. She has never thought of herself as the motherly type. Oh, it’s true she likes children well enough, but she has been certain for a long time that her own admittedly warm and loving mother had not passed on any sort of that same instinct on to her. But then, perhaps she has simply never needed it before.

Celeana is hesitant at first, rightly so. Joscelin’s offer of protection is repeated on a wavering breath, full of doubtful questioning. While Joscelin does not know this girl’s story, she can guess. Her delicately lined features turning solemn, the red and white mare nods gravely, defending her assertion in the best way she knows how - with sincerity. Beyond that, she really is quite capable. As a trained amazon warrior who can wield light as a weapon, she is far from defenseless.

As the filly reaches out to her in hesitant acceptance, Joscelin takes a step closer, pale muzzle brushing gently against the small girl’s velvet coat. That is all it takes, it seems, to encourage her to settle into Joscelin’s embrace, fully accepting what she has freely offered.

”If you’d like to Celeana, you can come with to my home. It is full of strong women who would teach how to fight, so that one day you could protect yourself.”

The speckled girl's petite body was warmed by the blessing of an embrace that welcomed her. She was finally safe. Safe as any little girl should be.

She nestled her ebony blotched head into Joscelin's fur. Her chocolate brown eyes followed the soothing burst of light that passed through the delicate cracks within the mare's body. Strangely it welcome the little girl with more warmth, as she pressed against the crimson toned mare.

After a few moments of silence the soothing sweet vocals of Joscelin entered her inky glossed lobes. A home and family of women? Oh, how wonderful that sounded to the appaloosa girl, she would learn to protect herself from the outcome of her parent's death. And lastly, no men nor boys anywhere! Sounded definitely like the kind of place she was seeking refuge in.

"I would like that." She spoke in a more adventurous tone than her more cautious, vulnerable state. Things had changed so quickly, making the girl both excited and finally happy. She hadn't felt joy for the few days she had trekked into Beqanna and frankly, she was glad she aimlessly wandered herself into this welcoming lush meadow.

Ooc: Sorry this is really crappy, just wanted to end it happily and wanted to get her out into the Amazons.
