    COTY

    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

sometimes things fall apart so that better things can fall together

it had been such a long week. having returned to the dale was one of the happiest moments in the last few years and with a heart full of pride, she wore her scars proudly. the scars that represented the dale having saved her from the possession that had rocked her to the very core. at the time she had been too weak, and the dale, having taken note of her genuine loyalty chose to have mercy and save her tortured soul and body... for the rest of her life she would serve the dale and knew that if she ever turned against her, the god's would take the life they had restored within her.

never could she repay the dale, except by serving her faithfully and loyally until the day her spirit was called 'home'. with confident steps she made her way along the outskirts of the meadow, watching the unfamiliar faces as the converged and spoke amongst one another, enjoying the beautiful spring day. she had always wondered how this place had such a neutralizing effect on those who were beyond it's borders against one another. but some secrets were never meant to be discovered. sometimes you were just meant to let them be, and rightly so.

for a moment she came to a stop under an old willow tree closest to the river and turned to watch the small groups, silently observing and unwilling to join in. that was one thing about clytemnestra. she had her days where shed wanted to bother everyone, learn about them, meet new faces... and then there were days like today, where she wanted to watch and study and not speak a simple word. it was days like today where if someone wanted her attention, they would have to acquire, request or even demand it. otherwise she would remain still, silent, poised, her mane and tail rippling gently with the soft breeze.

the striped ex-queen was one that was easily remembered had one ever one into her before. her quick lip, and sometimes hard 'bite', had been a personality trait that was not easily forgotten. and even though her striping had lightened slightly there were few in beqanna that sared the winged mare's likeness. and it was this that made her hope her homecoming was not a overwhelming one. she wanted to keep her history quiet. she wanted a fresh start amongst fresh faces until she could nolonger avoid those that knew her personally or knew her name and what it was tied to.

soon though word would get around that clytemnestra was "back in town" so to say, and she would need to go find eight. she would have to greet the magician king with a friendly reminder that she never forgot their time in ruling together. possibly go and congratulate him on acquiring the valley. she remembered easily when the valley had been in her eye at the time of beqanna's rebirth when she was just a yearling. yet she had turned around when she heard her sister calling and returned to their home only to end up ruling alongside her. it had been a moment of great pleasure when her sister had seen her worthy enough to let her join her side. and together they became sister queens.

it was then and there that clytemnestra's history started. and it was here and now that it would continue until her final days. with a soft sigh she shifted her weight, stretching out her wings slightly before bringing them back against her sides snuggly and shaking her head making her mane and forelock flick around. blinking she looked back up and stared back into the crowd, just as still as before almost daring someone to approach her and bother her solitude.
