    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

When prey softly outwits its predator
Morning rose, autumnal colors reflected in the beams of early sunlight that dappled through the entrance of the den. A soft chill in the breeze came lightly blowing through the den, ruffling the lavender tuft of forelock of a young bay, lavender pointed and winged filly. She lifted her heavy head, milky eyes blinking the sleep away and lavender tipped wings stretched and fluttered. Her usual morning routine, roll up onto her clumsy gangly legs and stretch herself in countless ways before setting out on explorations. Using her wings as a detector of things around her, she slowly walked forward, noting where the wall is with the tip of her wing, following it along until she reached the entrance. Even though she could not see, she could imagine what it looked like outside....beautiful colors, trees, soft green grass, and lots of horses and foals about. Though she would never know exactly what it would look like. Ever.

She hung her head a little, her blank milky eyes felt teary. She could understand why a mother would leave a child like herself here. What pegasus could fly without sight? That, and she was practically a walking death sentence. What mother wants to live in stress and fear having to constantly keep watch and go slow for a blind child that could get snatched up by a hungry predator in the blink of an eye. But, she forgives her mother. She didn't really miss her, there was nothing to miss. All she was was a guiding touch that gave her a few sips of milk and lead her here. Cygnet could not see her, could not put a face to the one who brought her into this...blank world. So, that was that.

Now was her time to begin life in a better way maybe? She wondered if there was some deeper meaning to her existence or maybe her handicap. What if this world was not worth seeing? What if this was a way to let her create her own world, see it as she wanted to. She could create scenes to better fit her needs, like this may be the adoption den, but she could make it into a beautiful land with babbling brooks, big trees with vast canopies where the sun could dapple down onto the ground, there would be animals of all kinds here. But that was her gift. She did not see her blindness as a bad thing, it was good. This way she could literally turn a blind eye to things that are bad. She could make everything good in that brilliant and sweet mind of hers. She could even imagine a mother, beautiful and fair, and very loving. She pretended to follow her around this fantasy world in her head. If only that could be real for her.

What mare would want this lavender dipped foal with wings and no sight….she must look like a brightly colored neon “eat at joe’s” sign.
Such is a sight to see

the words she knows the tune she hums

Zaravich was making a trip to the field as she normally does for her diplomat duties. Unfortuanetly there is such a thing as an adoption den in Beqanna, where the unwanted foals go until someone adopts them, it is thankfully a normally quiet area but today it was not. She heard the movement of others, which Zara found odd and decided to check it out. She had a daughter of her own, and was suppose to have another child but she unfortunately had a a stillborn last year. Her sides were beginning to grow, promising a foal was growing inside Zara. She has been rather distant from the herd since the stillborn, she loved being a mother and it was hard to watch the other mares with there children while she had none to care for.

As she traveled deeper into the den her ears did not deceive her, a lavender foal layed alone, looking for someone to love her. Zaras heart instantly ached for the foal, how could any mother just drop off her foal, left for dead. She remembered how badly she wanted a foal, and there are some mares who just drop theirs off. As she stepped closer she noticed the foal was blind (cloudy eyes) perhaps that was why there mother dropped them off. None the less only a cold hearted parent would leave there foal due to a defect. She knew that Phaedrus would be accepting of a foal should she bring it home, and Zara was not about to leave the adoption den without offering a home. She stepped closer to ensure she was within the foals hearing range Child what are you doing all alone? she asked in a quiet nurturing voice. She extended her neck to the ground where the foal layed, gently nudging her shoulder giving away her position to the blind filly. She viewed her over, a carrier of wings just like Phaedrus was, and a smile came across her own face, This foal was beautiful aside from her defect.

OOC: I figured her eyes would be cloudy like most blind animals, i can edit if hers are not
