    Assailant -- Year 226

    QOTY

"But the dream, the echo, slips from him as quickly as he had found it and as consciousness comes to him (a slap and not the gentle waves of oceanic tides), it dissolves entirely. His muscles relax as the cold claims him again, as the numbness sets in, and when his grey eyes open, there’s nothing but the faint after burn of a dream often trod and never remembered." --Brigade, written by Laura

She falls easily in step with the pale mare. Mina is not brave enough yet to wander far from her mother but finds the sprigs of flowers and occasional butterfly interesting enough to wander after. Despite her infinite curiosity she never strays far from Scorch.

The trek was rather long for the girl, though she refused to stop. The girl skips around beside her mother as they reached Nerine's borders her ears turned to the sound of Scorch's voice.

    "Home."

Mina repeats the word, smiling at its sound and the warm feeling it gave her. The wild scent of her new kingdom mates hits her powerfully, her soft muzzle wrinkling in protest. Scorch ushers her forward into the kingdom, her tail wrapping protectively around the painted girl. Mina curls into her mother's side, nodding as the mare suggests a place to lay down. By this point so late in the day, she is worn and hungry from the journey. Carefully they make their way through the underbrush the girl stepping easily over thorn coated vines and small plants. She glances warily around, nervous suddenly at the surrounding equines. She could not see them yet, but she knew they lingered.

Mina walks closer to Scorch's side, eyeing the scenery around them carefully. Occasionally she would see rabbits or birds flit through the grounds, but mostly it was just grass and assorted plants. Distantly she heard the telltale wish wash of a great body of water, but Mina had never seen the ocean.

With a single glance around she sets her attention on her mother once more.
